Description of the Project
The Government has been promoting Entrepreneurial & Innovative ecosystems in Universities/Colleges/Polytechnics/ITIs using EDII-TN as the implementing organisation. Entire funding is given by the Government. vEDII-TN has been implementing this scheme of the Government since 2016-17. vVarious entrepreneurship development programmes are planned and implemented for faculty, students and alumni of the constituent institutions. vA hub and spoke modelled scheme with functional hubs established under Engineering Colleges, Arts and Science Colleges, Polytechnic Colleges and ITI's. vTamil Nadu Student Innovators (TNSI) challenge programme has been introduced among students to encourage them to create intellectual property rights and commercialisation of their inventions. vThe total number of higher educational institutions covered under the scheme in Tamil Nadu is 1700.
Objectives of this programme
Capacity Building of management and faculty to support and sustain Entrepreneurship and Innovation. vCreate & build an entrepreneurial & innovative ecosystem with effective Partnerships. vInitiate and sustain entrepreneurship competency development processes. vCatalyse and support product and process innovations within campus. vCreate & support entrepreneurs within campus and in the community around. IEDP operates on the HUB and SPOKE model. Resourceful Universities and Colleges are recognised as Hubs. vEach College Entrepreneurship & Innovation Hub supports around 30-40 colleges. vThe programme is implemented on a structured set of activities as an incampus enabler, such as, ldeation, opportunity evaluation, selection and most importantly, management involvement in the whole process.
Master Trainers Training programme
The Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute of Tamil Nadu (EDII-TN) is organizing a Master Trainers Training Programme to address the critical need for entrepreneurial skills and innovative thinking in today's global economy. This initiative aims to create a cadre of Master Trainers who will equip educators with the tools to inspire and guide students in entrepreneurship and innovation. The programme includes a week of intensive sessions covering foundational concepts, effective training methodologies, curriculum design, practical workshops, and mentorship. Each district will have up to five teams chosen based on innovation, feasibility, and potential impact. Funding will be disbursed in stages, tied to key development milestones, with expert mentors providing guidance throughout the process. The Business Innovation Seed Fund (BISE) for Student Innovators, organized by EDII-TN, aims to support and empower student innovators in Spoke Colleges by providing financial assistance to develop and commercialize their innovative ideas. Managed through a structured application and evaluation process, the BISE fund encourages entrepreneurial ventures by reducing financial barriers and enhancing the innovation ecosystem. Start-up clinics for failure Start-ups
The Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute of Tamil Nadu (EDII-TN) is launching the Start-up Clinic, an annual program to support sick start-ups by providing intensive mentoring and resources. The program involves identifying struggling start-ups, conducting a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, developing tailored action plans, and offering expert mentoring and workshops on crucial business topics.
